Loved this restaurant!!!!!!!! The atmosphere is fabulous! We sat outside and The view was beautiful! The food was so good! I got the breaded shrimp and it was delicious! Service was fast and friendly! Perfect date night!!!

Had a wonderful experience here. We decided to walk into the outside bar for dinner. Here we were overlooking Shem Creek' marsh and the Shem Creek Park. Beautiful! We ordered the Fried Green Tomato tower and asked for the Grouper dinner blackened. I love blacked grouper! The tomatoes were very, very good! Crunchy on the outside and sweet inside. The Grouper was just as good the fish had a nice crust and so soft inside. A great meal. We finished this with their house made apple crisp. One of the best! The waiter was also tending bar. A great waiter! Fun to talk to and extremely polite. The view from this vantage point is just beautiful. Sunsets are awesome!

What do you do when you can't get into Tavern & Table for two hours? You go to Vickery's of course. Vickery's offers a fantastic view and a fairly forgettable meal. (Actually I just noticed on their website that they've had a Vickery's in Atlanta for 30+ years and I've never even heard of it. Case in point.) Fortunately they were also able to seat our party of 7 immediately on a Friday night. It's a whole lot of fried seafood to choose from. Fried shrimp, calamari, oysters, and chicken wings were spread all around. You can't mess fried seafood up, so these all passed the test. I had a shrimp and scallop pasta that our server swore was mind-blowing. I found it mediocre and majorly lacking in flavor. I think everyone enjoyed their meals, but it can more so be chalked up to the company, the view, and the shots of tequila. Will I go back to Vickery's? Sure. Will I suggest going back to Vickery's for dinner? Probably not. Honestly Vickery's is a killer patio and I'll probably be back next time for drinks and apps only. It's not bad it's just not memorable.

We went this past weekend (Memorial Day) and were seated right away. Our seat was right near the window and the view was gorgeous. We also happened to be near the patio, which had two open doors in hopes of air coming through. None came. We ate at sundown, and while it is almost summer and Charleston is a humid place, we were disappointed that we had to move outside to stop sweating from simply sitting there waiting for food. Inside the table was lopsided and even then it was wobbly. The decor itself is that boat feel you would expect from a place such as this, but the actual booths, chairs, and tables were way too outdated. While our server was a nice guy, he was stretched thin. Leaving us to catch him when we could so we could order another drink etc.. That kind of put a downer on things because instead of enjoying the atmosphere, you're constantly searching for someone to help you out. The patio area was great. Wind blew and it was simply glorious! The view was better than it was inside and we were finally able to relax. For me the drinks weren't all too great, but were at a fair price. The fries were void of taste, not even salt could help. But the burger and fish were delicious. We had tenders as an appetizer and immediately ate them up. For dessert we had bread pudding which came hot with whip cream but I wish ice cream came on top instead. All in all, maybe we came on a bad day. Come here for a light lunch and a beer with friends or family.

It was a bit dreary and chilly, so we ate inside. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Our server was fantastic and did everything in his means to make the meal enjoyable, but it just fell short. We ordered soup that came out just barely above chilled. It was tasty, but a bit too thick. The shrimp salad was teeny, tiny bits of shrimp blended with tons of mayo - very disappointed, when your sitting there looking at several shrimp boats, I was expecting large, fresh shrimp. I may try the outside bar when I'm looking for a fun, relaxed drink and pub type food, but the restaurant wasn't what I was looking for.

Vickerys is the reliable favorite. Seafood, burgers, appetizers, desserts, drinks, and a great atmosphere. Can't beat it on Shem creek. Wonderful staff to boot.

The food was great, service was outstanding. I had the seafood platter and The potato salad was also good.

I've never actually been in the restaurant. I've only been to the secret back bar overlooking the marsh. There is always room and it's easy to get a drink. You can't beat the view from up there. I had a turkey pita with raz mayo that was to die for, and my fav aunt got the salmon house salad. Enjoyed the view and the wait staff at the bar was excellent!

We used to love this place, especially when they had their downtown location. They had one of the best happy hours and a pretty decent brunch - I'm not sure what happened. The food quality has definitely plummeted over the last 3-4 years. I always enjoyed their Cuban sandwich a side a their fries and this Awesome gravy they had for dipping your fries in- the sandwich has shrunk in size, the meat quality is different and the bread that brought it all together tastes and looks different - Oh well.....there's always a struggle between tweaking out as much profit and delivering a product that will satisfy and keep the customers coming back, but when you have regulars that know how much better it use to be have their food changed, it drives us away. On the plus side - the view is awesome and they still have one of the better bloody Mary's in town ( it's the clamato juice blend - love that stuff!!) I wanted to give 2.5 stars , but can't figure this rating system out - Someone let me know .

What a great spot. I think the forgotten part of Shem Creek. Fantastic views, indoor outdoor seating. Large bar. Great food. Great for bringing people from out of town for a bite. Has the vacation, beach feel without being crammed with people. I will return

Their Sunday oyster bake is the bomb. The place is on a small peninsula so it's surrounded by water. The surrounding park and grass are beautiful in the morning sun. I had so much fun I got a sunburn. Expect fresh off the boat delicious seafood. $12 for a whole bucket of super steamed oysters. Excellent deal, that's about 30 oysters. Shrimp were my favorite, steamed in old bay. I didn't come here to eat the pulled pork but was very happy to do it. Drink prices are cheap. The seating outside is ample. Crowd is mostly young. A visit will make for a perfect Sunday morning.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner because we saw great reviews on yelp. We were hungry and decided to give it a try. Worst decision ever!!!! We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. Before we got our appetizer, 2 older couples got their entree first and their appetizer afterwards. They were pissed and the server just shrugged it off and walked away while talking under his breath. At that moment I knew that our visit here will be unsatisfied. We finally got our calamari that we ordered which wasn't that good. The batter on the calamari was falling off and it was so difficult to eat. I better off eating it with my fingers. Server never came by to see how our appetizer was until he brought out our entree. We actually ate like 3 pieces and told our server we didn't like that and told him to take it away. We were trying to explain it to him why we didn't like it but our explanation literally went through one ear out the other. So we got the entree and my boyfriend got the seafood platter and I got the shrimp linguine. Boyfriends food was good because you can't go wrong with fried food BUT my entree was disgusting. By the way I'm getting over a cold. So when I tried the food it tasted spoiled. And told them to take it back and I ordered the black bean cakes entree. Seriously not what I expected, felt like I was eating taco with tons of salsa. Barely at it. But manager said I ate half of it which I didn't. Worst service ever and I've been a server for over 8 years. Our server cursed at describing the food as well as the manager. Unprofessional! I do not recommend this place if you want service and I will not be returning there. I wish I can give it a zero star. The other server had to refill our water because he decided to hangout at the bar. Seriously he only came to us when he had to give us our food and our check. Unprofessional

While visiting Shem Creek Park, I decided to stop by at Vickery's and get a quick bite to eat. The place had a relaxing vibe, where you can just come with a group and have fun. I also liked the view from their patio (too bad I couldn't hang out there because they were hosting a wedding). I sat at the bar and thought the service was okay and could have been better. I tried their Bourbon Butter Shrimp and it was amazing. I couldn't have enough of it, and was very close to getting another order of it. I didn't stay here long, but I liked the restaurant. I'll make sure to come back here next time I'm in South Carolina and try other items from their menu.

View is amazing. Great place, nice decor very awesome place. Food was all excellent. We had a large group of people and separate checks were asked for. The checks got screwed up a little bit with wrong items on wrong checks but it's understandable with such large party. Only thing could've improved was waitress could've been a little friendlier in my opinion

I seem to always make my way here when in town. The food is consistently great and the waterfront views just add to a cool atmosphere. This time around I had the blackened Mahi sandwich. The extra kick of spice really makes it stand out. I had a side of black beans and rice as well and didn't leave a speck behind.

  • Jeff J.

Bad food, bad service..... Great view can't even help this place. Not sure how you screw up ahi tuna and a mixed seafood plate but Vickery's managed to pull it off. We will most certainly not be back. For all the amazing restaurants that the Charleston has to offer you can throw a dart at a map and hit 500 places better than this.

    (2)
  • Ji L.

Pros: 1) Great view! 2) No brunch menu (at least when we went around 11am on a weekday), but mimosas and bloody marys available! Meh: 1) Not impressed with their shrimp, sausage and grits; it was tasty, but rather greasy. I had high expectations; the restaurant's in Charleston after all.

  • Amanda R.

I took my sister there for lunch and we both got the crab cake sandwich. It was really good! The prices were reasonable. Even with the rain outside, our view was beautiful. Service was good, and I will definitely take family back when they come to town.

  • Linda D.

Great views, ok service, disappointing seafood. My crab cake came out very dark brown, unrecognizable as having any crab. If you advertise seafood, you should know how to cook it properly. Spouse liked his burger, but fries were soggy. We won't be back.

Shark Fin Bar is a nice area to have a drink while waiting for a table. Food and service here are bleh.

  • Naomi K.

The view was great- we sat near the window and overlooked the bay watching the paddle boarders exit the bay, the fishing boat bring in their catch and the clouds drifting in. The service was good and quick. The food was not that great. I had the "awarding winning oyster bisque" which was rather disappointing. The oysters were huge but not quite tasty and rather questionable (my stomach was a little queasy afterward but I'm not sure if it was the oysters.) The bisque was creamy but not thick, sprinkled with corn and tomato pieces and some seasoning but not spectacular. The soup came out quite cold, but slightly warm in the middle. The grilled salmon sandwich was a little better but the fries were limp and soggy. Three stars for the view and service.

Four and a half stars. I've never given 5 stars to a restaurant. Nobody's perfect, right? My wife and I started with the green tomato appetizer followed by the lowcountry sauté. Tomatoes were fabulous and sauté was 'to die for'. We never get desert, but had some time to kill so ordered the 'Le Bomb'. It put our meal over the top. View was picturesque and service was top notch. ( we sat in bar area to avoid the wait). This was at least my third visit here and each time was on par. Will be back.

  • Amy D.

Our waiter was a little uninterested at first but seemed to warm up after a bit. My cousin and I had the calamari and fried green tomatoes and were not disappointed. The calamari was good, but the sweet dipping sauce made it awesome. I'd never had fried green tomatoes before, but if they all taste anything like the ones at Vickery's, I'll be a fan for life!!! Great beer selection, nice shot recommendations from the cold-ish waiter, and overall a great experience. Look for dolphins in the marina - great water views and yummy food make this a good spot in my book.

I love Vickerys , but they need to reinvest some of their profits and install working fans in the Sharkfin Bar. It was only 82 degrees on a Sunday but it was too hot to stay longer than one drink. Had to head to Reds for a similar view but it was so much cooler. Do something for your local, loyal patrons and get those fans replaced!!!

I've been eating at Vickery's since the early 90's in Atlanta. Always tasty, friendly and they have an A1 great view! I love Jamaican food, salmon, crawfish and oysters. I can always count on having a great experience whenever I go - which by the way can be super late! (and I don't have to go through the drive through!) They serve until 1. Gotta love it!

I always plan to make a visit to The Vickery. They always have great service and service. Everything I've had hear is always good - the Sunday brunch has crab cake eggs benedict which is very good.

Terrible food !!!! I had a grilled mahi sandwich. It was the thinnest fishy tasting disgusting I have ever had to pay for, half raw , cold, Nasty beans and rice. Artificial mayonnaise with chunks of Tomato with no real flavor. Overall a -1 for the food Location is good Bartenders are nice. Drink was okay

  • Ted F.

3 stars all for the view and bar. Read some other reviews and one of them nailed it; it's a bar with bar food, although some 'entrees' are way overpriced. A fried seafood platter (any of them) for $18.95 and you get mostly french fries.

    (3)
  • Arnaud B.

Fantastic location & view. Pretty unique. Service: not the reason why you will go back there. Food neither. Was all right overall.

    (3)
  • Jimmy M.

Customer service was slow. Food was pretty good and even though I appreciated the cheap oysters on a half shell, the oysters were not chilled. Also, should have gone during the day cause it looked as if this place would have had a great view on a sunny day. Even though I only marked 3 stars, I'm sure I'd try it again.

First impression of this place was that it looked like a dump. Compared to the restaurants you pass to get there, yuck! It was behind a restaurant and a big parking lot, so you'll have to drive through. Be careful, there are a ton of pot holes in the parking lot. As my roommate and I drove up, we swear we saw a guy pissing by their gate. He has his hand on the wall, legs spread, and that back look that showed he was doing something he shouldn't. Onto the rest of the restaurant. Inside is dark and drab. A makeover would make this place pop and have more business. They have lots of space for tables. They have a bar area. Our server was nice. She knew about the food they serve, but nothing outside of the restaurant. I asked her something else and she didn't know anything, smiled, laughed, and walked away. For the food, it was really good. I forgot what the actual name was, but it had shrimp, crawfish, crab meat, some other seafood, all on top of grits. The sauce was very tasty and good. The grits were light and buttery tasting. All of the seafood was juicy. I would definitely order that dish again. I also ordered their house salad with their white vinegrette they made. It was a great tasting dressing. Besides the decor and such, the food was excellent.

I've eaten here before and enjoyed it (decent food, good atmosphere and good service). Unfortunately the last two visits have been less than stellar and tonight's visit was not enjoyable. The food was ok but he service completely sucked. We were never offered refills on beers or waters and eventually called over another server to get water for the kids. The server didn't check back during the entire meal and only put down the bill with no thought if the 2 families wanted split checks.

  • Jeremy M.

It's a bar, then a grill. The food is not great, but if you're looking for a decent bar scene, it is the place. Food was tasty, but portions a little lacking for the price...but then everything in Charleston is expensive.

Went here in October on a weekend vacation with my family, and we wanted to find a nice waterfront, outdoor-dining location for our final dinner in town. We went into a couple other places in this general spot, and they all were either too expensive relative to the food or had too much of a "townie" feel to them. We finally gave this place a shot and were able to get seated after a brief wait at the bar. Was pleasantly surprised to find a decent amount of craft beer at the bar, although the bartender didn't seem to know anything about them. We got seated at a roomy table outside, and immediately found out our waiter was a smart-ass. With my family, that's an automatic boost in your tip! The view was terrific, and we had no problem finding parking. We had a variety of soups and seafood dishes, and all were just awesome. We all had "food babies" in our bellies by the time we were done, and all five of us loved what we had. Would gladly come back again the next time we visit the area.

Second happiest day of my life after marrying my husband = Spring Oyster Roast at the Shem Creek location of Vickery's As a Midwesterner vacationing in the South, we were blessed to be in the area during this weekend! We didn't even plan on coming here until a friend of ours, who is originally from Kentucky, urged us to check out. We'd never been to an oyster roast and didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a big party with live music, ridiculously fresh and affordable seafood, and scenic views on an absolutely gorgeous day near the creek. LOVED - $12 buckets of steamed oysters - We got two - just could not help ourselves!!! $7 baskets of shrimp steamed in Old Bay - sooooo savory and flavorful $5 pulled pork sandwich - huge amount of fork tender, pulled pork in sweet/tangy bbq sauce on a soft bun (amazing deal) $3 beers to wash it all down After we stuffed ourselves, we walked around the nearby creek/park to take in all the sights of the salt marshes and passing boats - a must-do if visiting on a warm weather day! Would definitely return if in the area and would love to check out the neighboring bars.

This place was just ok. Sat at the bar as usual and picked out a couple appetizers to share (calamari, crab cakes and fries). Food was just ok, bar food, calamari did not seem fresh and was served with a orange marmalade wasabi sauce that was a little odd, crab cakes just ok. This place was actually recommended by an employee at a local restaurant so we gave it a try... Strange vibe, food was just ok bar food and watched as the bartender poured himself a shot when he served a couple friends. "Cheers to me" This was the first trip I have been on where I have seen bartenders do this in public...twice in one weekend here and Reds.

Over the last 5 years been there many times. Nothing's changed. It's still a Bar with bar food. The only real appeal is the view. The place needs a makeover, in and out to stay there with the Big Boys. Food, par, for a bar, nothing great, service, typical bar type. Too many great places to go. Step up you game. The view will not carry you forever. Frank G

I've been to Vickories countless times and the food is continuously good. I usually go for the turkey pita with loaded Mashed potatoes. I recommend coming here either for lunch or at sunset so you can appreciate the water views. If you're looking for a high class fancy place, this isn't really it. It's a casual joint that serves good, basic dishes. And that's good in my book. Drinks are also fairly cheap here. So if you're just looking to grab a couple beers and enjoy the view, this is a good place for it. Overall it's just a great casual place to grab some food. Much better than any chain restaurant in the area that's for sure.

As good as it ever was. Had the cashew crusted tuna on salad. It was awesome. My friend had a pasta dish. Great drinks and service. I would definitely go back. Give it a try. And they are local folks so that makes it even better. Great atmosphere. Got some funk to it

My fellow associates and I ate here for dinner. The food served was phenomenal, but the pricing for the service was extremely sub par. If you are looking for a place that will fill you up for a decent price i would not suggest this place to my worst enemy. The amount of food that i recieved for the $9.95 popcorn shrimp appetizer would not of fed a hamster. Now when the entree of shrimp and scallop basil pasta came out, it was average sized for $18.95, but that is all that came out. Where is the bread? My group failed to recieve any and when we requested it the waitress stated it would be right out. After 30 minutes of waiting and everyone's dinner finished, the bread finally came. We then requested the checks and recieved them. My group then proceeded to wait am addition 20 minutes until my group decided we've had enough and went to the hostess to drop of the check. Bottom line: don't eat here.

Came here on a beautiful Sunday with my sister and our friend! The environment is beautiful. We sat inside with a view of Shem Creek. I had the Jerk Chicken dinner and the others had the Low-country Saute! EVERYTHING, and I mean everything was excellent. We also had a couple of margarita which were very taste and consistent. I would recommend this for anyone with a group of family/friends and even for a date night.

Went back here on vacation after a couple years absence. The food was not so good this time and I think one of my sides was spoiled. We had at least four different servers which also added to the confusion. I told my server that I didn't like my food and he exclaimed that "at least I liked my son's dish" that he couldn't finish. Which essentially meant I payed for an entree that I did not want to eat because it was not palatable. If it was not for the nice ambiance I would have given this place one star. Vickery's isn't only good for drinks and light appetizers. It's also a great place for drinks with a date. Eat elsewhere.

Vickery's is a favorite creek side bar/restaurants in the area for three reasons, breathtaking views, better service than anywhere else on the creek, and an atmosphere with 15+ years of character. The outdoor Shark Fin Bar upstairs off the back deck of the main dining room is the perfect place to catch the beautiful sunsets on the marsh, Muddy's Dock Bar downstairs right on the creek lets you keep your bar stool & toes in the sand while the Main Bar inside keeps you cool on a hot Carolina day, while enjoying the unobstructed view through the floor to ceiling panoramic style windows. Vickery's offers lunch and dinner daily as well as brunch on Sunday, maybe even Saturday but I'm not 100%. The Grilled Jerk Chicken Sandwich with fried plantains and raspberry mayo is my go to sandwich; spicy, sweet & crunchy all at once. The brunch menu, bloodies & mimosas are always delish, and I'm a sucker for the handcut french fries with pepper gravy when a snack is in order. When in Mt. Pleasant whether from the area or not, make Vickery's a stop in your travels, especially at dusk.

So much potential to be amazing, but stops short at okay. The glorious view and Nostalgia plays a big part of the experience here. It is hard to forget the Downtown V. Those delicious $1 black eye pea fritters, now absent from the menu, still beckon me back. The artichoke dip starter is yummy but the wine pours are dismal. A bottle costs the same as two Dixie cup servings. The service is young, curt and hurried. But, alas, the view is magnificent.

Been here twice now both times I left disappointed. Our waitress was nice and friendly. I wish I could give the food any sort of compliment. Instead of a rather strange orange sauce to go with the miniature calamari, I asked for marinara which came out cold both times I ordered it. For my entree I ordered the NY Strip special. The steak itself wasn't bad however my mashed potatoes was a different story. They were garlic mashed potatoes however they were just so over powering with the garlic flavor I just could not eat it. Won't be coming back for anything but a drink and a nice view.

Lunched here with husband and kids- while the ambience was pleasant with great views of the water, the food was nothing too special. The crab cakes were fine - flaky, tasty, not too fishy- but my husband had the jerk chicken and commented, "these people have never been to Jamaica, that's for sure." I was like, well, don't order jerk chicken at a seafood place but then again, if you're gonna put it on the menu, it needs to show some more effort. Overall, I felt like the main draw of this place was it's location on the water. Other than that, it wasn't a very memorable meal.

Well not off to a good start on a Saturday afternoon. Rachel seemed a bit more attentive but the waiter with the long hair wandering the outdoor deck looked like he could care less about his job or service. Not sure I could recommend anything about this place. They sure do NOT seem to be customer focused. You are own your own with this place !!

Stay away from anything with grits. The food was bland and unseasonsed.. I had shrimp and grits.. The green peppers and onions were not cooked at all. And the shrimp was way under cooked. My son had the seafood and grits. The oysters had large chunks of shell which almost chipped his tooth. And the waiter(MURPH) saw we did not eat most of the food but never even asked if it was ok.

The family and I ate here on Friday May 8th. The location is great. Right on Shem Creek. We ordered several appetizers and entees to split. The oyster bisque is their award winning recipe and a must try. Other items ordered were crab cakes, fried green tomatos, fried shrimp, and calamari. Everything was cooked perfect. There is a bar downstairs that is a lot of fun, with a docksode bar and cornhole boards set up. The reason for 4 stars is the limited menu. While they do very well with what they serve, they are missing some of the traditional Charleston dishes you expect to see from a restaurant right on Shem Creek. I would definitely eat here again. Service was great.

The views at this bar may be the best on Shem Creek...water on all three sides and a gorgeous view of the sunset in the evening. The drink prices are very reasonable and comparable with anywhere else in the area. The food here is much better than across the way at Red's Ice House. Once every few months they host a small Oyster Festival and it has become one of my favorite events every year. Live music, $12 buckets of oysters, $5 bbq sandwiches, $7 shrimp bowls, beautiful people and a great atmosphere add up to a great time year after year. I also really enjoy the outside bar on the ground water side which they brought in some sand to surround...really adds to the touch of the place.

Where to begin...We had made reservations for 8 people for 7pm. We arrived early and were ushered to our table on the deck overlooking the creek. Unfortunately, the table they gave is was for six people if not everyone planned on eating. We explained to the young lady that we were expecting 8 at which time she revealed her brilliant idea of adding 2 more chairs to the tiny table. We were told we would have to come in the dining room if that table wasn't good enough. So, now it's meal time. I have to admit that I wasn't looking forward to this meal. I had eaten here before and found nothing pleasing about the meal. The best choice for me (because u like my food to not have crazy garnishing) was the pan seared grouper and instead of rice I opted for extra veggies. The veggies were well under cooked and had no seasoning. The "grouper" if that's actually what it was. I've never seen grouper that thin and to have such a strong fishy flavor just was the final nail in their coffin for me. All of this for $20!! Not a favorite! I don't feel the least bit guilty not recommending this restaurant to my family and friends who visit Charleston.

Such an extensive amount of vegetarian entrees to choose from!!! I had gazpacho soup and black bean cakes. they had a bite to them. Love the vintage diner kind of seating near the bar. Service was cool, fast, & friendly. I will def be back!

Beautiful setting overlooking this shrimp Harbor. Food just OK but the table was sticky which made us nervous about the food cleanliness. Go for the setting and adjoining park with walkways over the salt marshes.

Do not waste your time here. Horrible service. Sat at the outdoor "full service" bar for entirely too long-never to be assisted by a waiter. We've been visiting this area for years and eaten at many of the restaurants on Shem Creek but never had this poor of service anywhere.

My low country saute was amazing. Ice came with excelent creamy grits. The shrimp was perfect. His flounder sandwich was light and had thick slice of tomatoes with lettus.

Kind of run-of-the-mill Shem Creek seafood place but a great view. Good luck trying to park...

This place is located in a great spot right off the water. The Shem Creek area is a packed spot with an Inn and bars and restaurants. It seems like more of a locals hangout but definitely a neat area for out of town visitors to see and experience. We were at Vickerys very late on a Friday night and I regret that we weren't there when the water and the boats were more visible. Our food was great. I had the seared grouper and my wife had some dish that had crawfish, shrimp, crab and fried lobsters on top of southern grits.

Breezy deck, fresh food and a friendly staff make this low-key restaurant great for families. Bloody Mary's are yummy and a stroll down the long board walk is a nice way to complete lunch.

Food and service were ok, not outstanding. I think they are missing a huge opportunity with their location. We got the fried green tomatoes and blackened salmon, which were nothing special. My husband got shrimp and grits, which I would put money on the shrimp being frozen!! Not quite sure how a restaurant on the water could justify serving frozen shrimp.

Cam here with a group of 20. Right off the bat, the server introduces herself and then asks about the ckeck, and rolls her eyes and sighs when we ask for sepetate checks. She brought out the wrong drink for me. The entire time she was incredibly snarky and rude. Then, another person found tons of feathers on her wings. When I finally got someone else's attention, he said he'd get the manager. Instead, our sever came over and said well it happens. No apology. Just attitude. I'm a server, and I couldn't believe how rude our server was. Not at all accommodating for an allergy either. The bathroom smells funny, and the table across from us wad dirty the entire time we were there, over an hour. I will never eat here again.

Yum! Went here twice on our recent trip to charleston! Aside from the great ambiance and lively views (you can see dolphins playing as you eat on the deck!) the service is excellent and the food sooooo good! I had the basil pesto pasta with shrimp and scallops one night and would order that again for sure! The crab cake sandwich also is just as good if not better than any I had while at the beach. They were able to accommodate our party of ten on very little notice and were quick in preparing our meals. Yum!

Charleston is a foodie's paradise. You can barely throw a rock without hitting a great place to eat. Several of these great places are found in Mt Pleasant near Shem Creek. Vickery Creek Bar & Grill is one of them IMO. As I was doing a ghost tour on the USS Yorktown one of the days I was in Charleston it was very convenient to hop down to Vickery for a pre tour meal. One of the nicest things about eating dinner on Shem Creek is the view, especially at sunset, and if you happen to get some interesting weather that's just icing on the cake. When we stepped out of the car to go inside, I immediately turned around and grabbed my camera so I could take pics from the boardwalk of the fantastic cloud formations moving in from the west. We literally were able to watch a local weather front move across the marsh and then clear out while we ate. But enough about the view and the weather. We came here for a meal and that's what you want to hear about. I chose a grilled Mahi club on Cuban bread with sun dried tomato aioli (looks like mayo but tasted nothing like it). My GF got the southern fried chicken fingers with mash potatoes and gravy. We each added a drink, an appletini for me, and a double jack on the rocks for her. The drinks came out first and my appletini was good but her double was the story to talk about. It was more like a triple or even a quadruple. Even our waiter was surprised by how generous the bartender had been. Our food followed shortly after the drinks and it was delish. My Mahi club was excellent. It was fresh and tender with an excellent flavor that the the tomato aioli complimented well. The bread was also quite good, chewy, tasty and fresh. And the sandwich was accompanied by some very tasty hand cut fries. My GFs chicken tenders were a revelation. I didn't expect much when she chose them but I knew she was getting a little tired of fish by this point in our stay. It turned out to be a highlight of the trip for her though. These were fresh not frozen, hand breaded chicken tenders that came with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. She loved everything and I had to admit that her dish was very tasty when I sampled it. Our server was excellent, friendly and chatty without being intrusive, and very helpful when describing the tomato aioli. I hate mayo with a passion and he didn't steer me wrong when he said it looked like mayo but tasted nothing like it. My only complaint of any kind was with Vickery trying to pass off a dash of Cajun spice as blackened. Honestly the fish was fine and the spice was fine but blackened it was not. I know blackened, I love blackened, and this wasn't blackened. Had I been especially wanting that I would have been upset but it wasn't on my list of demands and to be honest I kind of expected they would do something like that when I was asked if I wanted it. I would definitely eat at Vickery's again. In fact if I lived in the low country I would probably eat here often. Mores the pity that I don't.

Why this place has such a poor rating... I have no idea. The scenery here is absolutely amazing and we scored seat outside. I highly recommend making reservations to secure that. The harbor and the marsh and ohhh the sunset. It was really just amazing! On to the food... my friend had the blackened salmon and I had a taste. It was actually really good! Me not being a fish person I was shocked at how I wanted to attack her plate when she stepped out to use the restroom. I had the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Salad which was really good. I enjoyed the honey mustard dressing. It complemented it really well (recommended by our server). Service to begin was a bit slow and they kinda forgot about us and took orders from two tables that were seated after us. I had to ask to for menus and remind them that I was there. Didn't really appreciate that but I don't think it was intentional. I'm not gonna knock the place down more than one star for that because the food was great and the scenery is just amazing! Parking was hard so prepare for that!

Vickery's on Shem Creek used to be one of our fav spots to go for a casual meal with nice cold beverages and spectacular waterfront views. We were here a couple of times for Independence Day enjoying adult beverages on the deck while watching the fireworks over the water. Anyhow, it was never a fancy place, but when we first started going, they had pretty decent food at super-affordable prices and the service was a-ok. But last time we went, the food was ok and service was not so good. We were there at an off-time and there were not a lot of patrons there. (Several people drinking at the bar, but not a lot of diners). After what seemed like a really long wait, we were finally seated and we waited a while before we saw our server who was not very helpful. We had trouble getting drink refills and one person in our party was served an incorrect dish which took forever to get resolved. Given the location, I would really expect to see more fresh seafood options on the menu.

As several other reviewers state, Vickery's is not really a "great" place for their food but I love coming here to enjoy the view and it's one of the best places for a sunset in Charleston. I've been coming here for about 7-8 years now and the staff is hit or miss.

Amazing views... that's the reason we went. But the food was really pretty good, too - better than we expected for the touristy location. My portobello mushroom sandwich had very tasty parmesan artichoke dip on it, roasted red peppers and a fried green tomato. Good combo. The blue cheese slaw was pretty good, the loaded mashed potatoes were better. For a relaxing lunch for 3 famished kayakers, Vickery's hit the spot.

Although I don't believe that the Shem Creek Park which recently opened in Mt. Pleasant is worth the $8.5 million dollar price tag (land $6m, build out $2.5m), it certainly is a sight to see. So when it finally opened this past week we decided to stop by. It is incredibly well done and the views are breathtaking. Certainly worth the trip! Interesting enough one of the boardwalks spits you out right in front of Vickery's, so we decided to stop for lunch. That was the path we shouldn't have taken. When we asked our bartender how long Vickery's had been in its present location she said she thought it was about "15 years". I doubt that any renovations and/or cleaning have been done in that entire time. What some might say is kitchy I found to be dated and in need of a dusting. Be that as it may we decided to order lunch and sat at the bar. Our bartender was very cordial and offered us the "specials" menu in addition to the regular menu. I always think that ordering a "special" is a good thing since it should be fresh and flavorful. Not so much. Their parmesan encrusted trout special was simply awful. Although I know fish can be "fishy", this gave "fishy" a whole new meaning. I ordered black beans and rice and blue cheese cole slaw. I sent the black bean dish back since it was cold and the cole slaw was terrible. I still shake my head when I think of my meal, it was that bad. My husband's Jerk Chicken salad was no better. His chicken was rubbery and the salad itself was bad. The red peppers and tortilla strips were mushy and the salad dressing was watery. He barely touched his lunch. Although their location on Shem Creek is lovely, I would recommend walking the new pier and passing this restaurant by.

Eating out on the covered side deck made this for us along with the great sandwich of jerk chicken with raspberry mayo and fried plantains. I will say that the jerk marinade was not as "spicy" as I would have expected but it was good non-the-less. We were in a bit of a hurry due to an appointment we had for ThrillerCharleston that is docked right below Vickery's and our waitress made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy our sandwich and get to the dock at the appointed hour!

Literally the only redeeming quality was the view. We were lucky enough to get a table right next to the window. In a little under a hour I saw egrets, pelicans, kingfishers, and dolphins playing in the bay. The food was not up to par. Definitely below average. The drinks were not great as well. For the quality of food, it was certainly overpriced. Service was okay. Don't look too close at the seats, windowsills, or ceiling.. this place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The view might be nice, but I think it'd be better to pack a picnic lunch and sit on the dock instead of wasting money on mediocre food.

When I lived in Charleston, there were many times that I hung out at the patio of the downtown location of Vickery's, yet I cannot recall ordering a single food item. Life was good. Draw your own conclusions, because this is not about that venue. The best thing about this location is actually their location - the former Josey Joe's near the mouth of Shem Creek. Years ago (decades, perhaps), The Trawler was the place to eat on the creek. Now the whole place is just shy of a bustling club scene, except for a few tour buses who pull in for blue-plate specials, unloading a few score of blue-hairs, pulling out again before they are overrun by the younger set. You can almost visualize the older crowd searching around for a garlic necklace to ward off the younger crowd while they eat their crab legs. Whatever the case, as just about every restaurant on the creek is packed, with or without a reservation, one is not: Vickery's. Guess where we chose to have dinner? The problem started with our table. Since the place was mostly empty, you would think they could sit us somewhere other than at a ramshackle table next to the door to the deck. At least the view was decent. Unfortunately, service was horrible. Glasses remained empty until we asked for them to be refilled, and then only the ones who asked were topped off - the other end of the table was left waiting. When the food finally arrived, it was absolutely underwhelming. For a location right next to where the fishing boats come in, you would think there would be a few seafood options. You would be disappointed. Instead, you get a couple standard fish plates (flounder, shrimp), throw in a few cajun-ized seasonings and a few burgers and you are done. Most of the flavors are just extra butter and salt. Based on the fact that we were there on a holiday weekend, and that every other restaurant was packed, I would say that these folks need a visit from Gordon Ramsay soon to turn things around.

Great view of Shem Creek. Nice atmosphere and terrific bar setting. Food was good. Stopped by twice, once for Bloody Marys and agin for a late night dinner. Enjoyed ourselves both times. Had it been warmer, say over 40 degrees, we would have loved to try the patio. Next trip. One drawback, crappy TV in the bar. One, small non hd set. Big miss here.

I was sad when the downtown location closed a few years ago cause I had to travel all the way out to Shem Creek for my Shrimp and Grits. Although it's been a few years since I've been in Chucktown this is the first place where I fell in love with Shrimp and Grits as well as fried oysters. Those are the only two things I get when I come here and of course a sweet tea to drink. Despite this place being a little out of the way from downtown it is definitely worth a visit if you are visiting!

Just left this restaurant not happy. Had reservations for 30 people but we only had 1 waitress and she also had another whole section to wait on. 5 of our party never got their food, I even had to tell our server we didn't get the food-she didn't realize this! The other 25 people were totally finished eating when we got our food and they had to wait on us. When the manager came, he said his staff was new! We expected our 5 meals to be comped, but no, he gave me $3.00 off my check with 3 meals. One person received nothing off her check. I will not dine there again, bad service, bad manager, and below average food!

Quite literally every time I drive to Charleston to visit friends, we eat at Vickery's. This most recent trip was the first time in a couple of years I had been back down to SC, and I wanted to research restaurants before I got there. Vickery's was one I had to take a look at because honestly the service had been fairly poor previously. After reading some reviews, I decided not to waste my time with the place when I got there. But, as things turned out (like they always do!) my friends wound up driving Casey and I over to Vickery's for lunch! We were seated outside on the deck that overlooks the waterway. It was a breath-taking view and a gorgeous day. Definitely ask to be seated outside should weather permit. Our waiter looked a little stoned, but he was nice. He was also quite forgetful and slow. Drinks went unfilled for more than half the meal and silverware was an afterthought. But lets get on to the meal! I ordered a flounder sandwich with a side of black beans and rice. Wow! So incredibly delish. The black beans and rice were slightly sweet and reminded me of carribbean style beans and rice. The sandwich was without question perfect. Everyone at our table was happy with their selections, and after we left we were all in agreement that the food was well-worth the wait and the waiter. But I still hold hope that Vickery's will become a little more selective with who they hire.

Took the family (adult children) on 3/8/2014 for a memory dinner. A dear uncle had passed. We received a table on the outside deck for five. The sunset was beautiful. Sat with the menu for 15 minutes, went to the hostess stand and the two girls apologized and stated they would send a server. Waited 15 more minutes, went to the hostess stand again, apologies the second time. Waited, sun went down, and returned to hostess stand. Requested a table, waited 20 minutes and received an inside table. Waited 10 minutes, order drinks and appetizer of 2 artichoke dips and our dinners (afraid we would not see the server for awhile) Received our drinks and dinner, asked about the appetizers and the server apologized, asked if we still wanted them. he would be them for us. We said we did. Our dinners, which were hamburgers, pasta and portabello sandwhich were fantastic! Very good food. Finished our dinner and server brought our appetizers and told us again he bought them. The bill was $125 and I did give the server a $25 tip, giving him the benefit of the doubt of just being making a mistake. However, the wait time, and the hostess not asking a manager to speak to us is awful. May consider returning for lunch, because the food is so good, but a manager needs to be on the floor, observing what is going on in the restaurant!

The chef must have had an off afternoon. We had five people in our party and none of us had anything good to say about our food. The sandwiches were tasteless, the cole slaw and "home made" potato salad were terrible. The views of the creek were great but we won't be back. Save your money and head elsewhere.

This place has good food but the service and the management are the worst that I have ever experienced in any restaurant that I have ever patronized. I ordered an adult entree for my 8 year old son because I don't like to order off the childrens menu because it is usually not of the same quality of food that is on the regular menu. So I let my 3 year old pick off of his brothers plate. Now the childrens menu was $4.95 for all entrees but the meal that I ordered for them to share was $14.00. $4.00 more then if I ordered 2 children's meals. When I recieve the bill there was a $3.00 plate sharing charge for my 3 year old. When I asked the server he told me that there was nothing he could do it was the policy of the restaurant. . So I asked to speak to a manager. The general manager came over to talk to me and refused to take off the charge. He went on to tell me that I didn't have to order a meal for my 3 year old but because the server saw him sharing the adult entree with his 8 year old brother that he has to be charged a plate charge. I found this absurd that he would charge a 3 year old a plate charge. This level of poor management is the worst that I have ever seen in all my years. If you chose to patronize this establishment keep an eye on what they charge you and don't get the male server that wears girls hairclips in his hair.

Corky and colorful restaurant / bar, right on the creek. This place doesn't scream "clean" or "fresh" -- but it has an upbeat attitude nonetheless. I had the gazpacho and black bean burger. Both were decent, but nothing to write home about. The dessert, on the other hand, was outstanding. I had a ginormous helping of bread pudding. Yum!

Would not recommend, except for the location - a nice view overlooking Shem Creek....but would not recommend for the food. All the fried food tasted EXACTLY the same...no seasoning and VERY bland. The grits also left a lot to be desired....could tell they used very little milk/cream....were not creamy or tasty......service was okay, but they forgot the side of rice/beans that my husband ordered, but no big deal as I'm sure they would have been tasteless......With a large selection of restaurants for southern seafood, I don't see a need to go here...you can get much better elsewhere.

I do a lot of waterfront dining, but this was a special treat. Our party sat at the seaward end of the deck, where we had an unobstructed view of the mouth of Shem Creek and the shrimp boats tied up there. Our server was very attentive, even warning us to head inside when she heard that a thunderstorm was approaching. This meant that she had to move drinks and redo the place settings, but she did so with a smile. Meals come with a soup or salad, so I ordered gazpacho, nice and spicy with a dollop of cooling sour cream. For my entree I had low country saute, which consisted of shrimp. crab, and crawfish tails over buttery grits, topped with fried oysters. Two of us raved over our meals, and three were merely pleased. The bill came with an 18% gratuity already added in. Luckily, our server had been worth that and a bit more. Leaving the restaurant, we found that it had poured while we ate.

Went there on a Monday night with the fam...ie the wife and daughter. The place wasn't busy so we walked in and got a prime table out on the deck overlooking Shem Creek. The service was very good throughout the meal, which is important when entertaining an infant. We got the fried green tomato tower app, and it was delicious. My wife had the crab cakes which weren't anything special. I had the shrimp and scallop pasta that was their special. It wasn't bad, but some of the scallops were very tough. All in all, it is a good place for kids and has a great view on the patio. It is not a culinary event, but I don't think anyone would have expected that. Worth checking out if you are in the mood for a laid back meal with a great view. the food is more of a 2.5 star experience, the locale a 5

Stopped in on a weeknight with my husband to have drinks with friends of the family. No food was consumed. The location and view are perfect. We had been dining in downtown Charleston and Shem Creek was a nice change. We had a great time and drink prices were low. Can't complain other then that its definitely dingy.

Not my first visit to Vickery's, but my first in many years. We decided to head over to Vickery's for lunch so we could sit out on the deck and enjoy the view, which was nice. We sat and watched the boats go in and out of Shem Creek, allowing us to determine exactly what type of boat we would buy if we ever moved to Charleston. The lunch menu had a good variety, but we obviously went the fried seafood route. The fried grouper and shrimp were excellent and reasonably priced. One draw back was we ordered adult beverages to enjoy, however both arrived warm and quickly got warmer in the Charleston heat. Bummer... The service was adequate, the atmosphere was standard, except for the view which, as I said before, was nice. Parking, even for lunch, was tricky. I can imagine for dinner it would be a madhouse.

Good happy hour specials and nice view; other than that, not impressed. My husband and I went for happy hour and planned to stay for dinner. We ordered artichoke dip as an appetizer and it took about 40 minutes to come. I was annoyed that it took so long and decided to go elsewhere for dinner.

Service was unacceptable. We never got something we ordered. For over 3/4 of our entrée course the entire table was without drinks. We waited WAY over ten minutes for him to check if we needed anything after receiving our entrées. And even then, he didn't refill some of the drinks!!!! And I find this sad - because the food was good. But, unfortunately, when the service is that bad - NO reason to go back. Lots of places have good food, too.

Holy cow...the outside of this place was totally misleading in the dark. Vickery's appeared to be the spot that I was missing while visiting Charleston, but this place was total crap on the inside. If you're still living in your college years, this may be the spot for you and your crew, but for the average grown up, you may want to reconsider (unless you're able to sit outside -- it was frigid, so we had no choice). The shrimp & grits was extra greasy and the restaurant felt grimy. Don't go unless you've had your tetanus shot. If you must, try to take the party to their outside space.

My daughter was visiting from Cali and I decided to try Vickeries. We both decided on the Mahi sandwich wish sided. The food was not only cold, but extremely bland. We couldn't eat it. In addition, I enjoy a variety of beer but their selection was limited. And, most come in cans. I would expect better from a restaurant of this caliber. Thankfully the view from the back deck was great.

I have to give this place a 5 because of the food, the staff and the view. The parking lot leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm not rating the parking lot. They have the best fried popcorn --- yum, yum. Also, their salads are awesome - the salmon salad, the grilled jerk chicken salad, etc. Their staff is a really friendly group -- Boyd & I have not had one bad server and the hostess is awesome. Also, we have eaten there so many time and have not ever had a bad experience.

One of the best Bloody Marys in town. The fried oysters here are always superb. My favorite is the fried oyster salad. A must have is the hand cut fries with a side of pepper gravy. And if you enjoy Cuban fare, you'll love the blackbean cake. Vickerys has a very friendly and pleasant wait staff and if you are looking for a good cup of gazpacho, you'll find it here. Oh, large portions as well...try the Turkey Pita with brie and raspberry mayo, it will serve two.

Recently went to Vickerys, my favorite restaurant in Charleston and was let down for the second time in a row. While the location is great and the Penne Pesto with scallops and shrimp was terrific the restaurant needs a makeover. The service sucked, the place needs a scrub, and the bathroom was disgusting. Was there with a party of twelve and no body was impressed or loved their meal, in fact many said they would rather eat at RBs across the canal next time. Sorry Vickery's. You're cut from my list. And Manager, if you're reading...Don't let the waitress with the ponytails and hot pink tights wear short shorts to work anymore, gross & tacky!

One of the area's best seafood restaurant, located on Shem Creek with beautiful water and marsh views, best enjoyed outdoors, weather permitting. In an area of great seafood restaurants, Vickery's is competitive. Shrimp is my favorite; calamari also great. Good selection of beer.

We had a late dinner here and the food was good. The server seemed to be in a hurry though I didn't see any other customers that he was taking care of. The fried green tomato tower appetizer was delicious but the portion was small. My son loved the fried shrimp dinner, my other son enjoyed the Cuban Reuben. The black beans in the side dish were a little undercooked but tasty. I had the portobello mushroom sandwich with collard greens and was a bit disappointed with the greens. The atmosphere was, however, terrific. If I had gone there to drink, I would probably have been much happier because I wouldn't have noticed the shortcomings of the food. The river breezes were lightly gusting over the back deck and after dinner we walked the boardwalk and admired the boats and the marsh.

I was really craving fish on Monday night and we didn't want to go into downtown Charleston so my boyfriend suggested we try the Shem Creek Vickery's so we could compare it to the downtown location. The location and view at Shem Creek is fabulous, although we were there for dinner so it was a bit dark and too chilly for outside dining. We did get a window table and would love to come back sometime for some outdoor dining. Just be careful not to miss the turn into the parking lot (unpaved fyi), since it comes up on you kind of fast. Location = 4.5 stars. On to the food...for some reason I can't remember what my boyfriend had, so I'll have to update that part later. I ordered a special, parmesean encrusted salmon, which came with broccoli and roasted red potatoes. I was a bit suprised when my dish came out sans potatoes and had a huge mountain of rice instead. The only part of the dish I didn't care for was the rice (I hate restaurant rice, it's always seasoned weird), but the broccoli and salmon were delicious! Dinner = 4 stars. We decided to split a dessert and ordered the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce, which I'd pass on next time, since the cake was a bit dry. Dessert = 2 stars. Service is kind of weird at this location...the hostess was sitting down reading a book when we entered (I thought she was a customer waiting to meet some friends) and our waiter kept randomly disappearing. Service = 3 stars. Overall it was a nice dinner and I'm sure we'll come back for lunch to check out the view in the daylight.

I have never been a big fan of Vickery's. I have not had very good food there. The one recent exception was the grilled mahi sandwich I had for lunch. It was actually pretty good. However, as noted that was unusual. I have had pretty bad service there as well. The real draw has to be the location. The view is really nice. I guess a lot of people like the view because the wait can be really long for such mediocre food. If you are looking for a place to grab a drink with a nice view this could be the place. If you are looking for good food look elsewhere.

Five and a half of us were there today and try as I might I couldn't find a redeeming quality. The food was mediocre at best, bad otherwise. Errant bones in the fried chicken, overcooked and dry chicken tenders and "Cuban Reuben", mediocre salad with bad "gazpacho vinaigrette", etc. Black bean cakes and black bean soup were standard. Service was pretty weak, but for regularly refilled drinks. The hostess sort of tossed the extra chair at us, as well as two hours later, the dessert menu. Atmosphere could have been okay, but just seemed really contrived and tacky. The air conditioning also left the place freezing, meaning we didn't stick around for dessert. The patios were okay, but just looked over the marsh, which was a bit smelly and unsightly- I don't know what the excitement is about. They were also littered with birds who swooped down onto the table next to you to peck at food remnants. Value was a big no.

The best part about this restaurant is the view. Vickery's in Mt. P is located right on Shem Creek. You MUST sit outside here. The vibe here is completely the opposite of the Vickery's in downtown Charleston (on Beaufain Street). This is pretty remarkable. Not many chains can truly pull-off different vibes. This Vickery's is more polo shirts, khakis and flip flops compared to the black t-shirts and fitted jeans of the Beaufain Street location. This is also a popular late-night meeting place for the Mt. P food and bev crowd. They aren't coming in for the menu. As far as the food, I have found it to be hit or miss. Sometimes my tuna comes out perfect and other times it's overdone. Don't come here expecting to have the best food in Mt. P. Come here because the view is amazing and the bar tenders pour great drinks.

I thought the food was very good and the atmosphere even better. A nice place to enjoy dinner outside in Mt Pleasant.

Food was very good and the shrimp and oysters were very fresh. Service was professional, good suggestions when asked. Didn't understand the issues mentioned in other reviews as we had no problems with finding a space to park close to the restaurant.

Third visit to vickerys and overall this place is good for the views and atmosphere but lacks in the food quality. Fish tacos not good, but burger is. Friendly service and the view is great!

I went to college in Charleston and lived downtown, but my family has lived in Mount Pleasant for three generations. So when I'm in town visiting these days, I usually end up at the Mount Pleasant locations of my favorite downtown restaurants. At least Mount Pleasant can hold its own on the eating front, these days, though! I am so impressed. Vickery's in Mt. P. has the same great food that I loved at the downtown location in college. We went on a Saturday at seven and didn't wait more than ten minutes, and waited outside with that beautiful view. We got someone to take a picture of our family, and it's georgeous with a pink-sky backdrop against the reeds and palm trees. My husband loved his black and blue burger, and I tried the spring rolls. My sister adored her salmon burger, too, but she'd had it before and has been thinking about it for years since. Our server was great. We had a most lovely dinner here and were out in less than an hour to make it to my uncle's show.

So while on a business trip I was told to check this place out from some coworkers back in the office. I must say it was incredible! I had the Lowcountry Saute which was basically Cheese Grits topped with Shrimp, Oysters, and Crawfish. It seriously blew me away! it was so tasty and just so different from anything I have ever had. I have had cheese grits in Chicago but real southern Cheese Grits make Chicago grits taste like dirt.

The 2 stars are purely for the food and gorgeous sunset. I've been here with my husband several times and had pretty good service. We even went for our anniversary to enjoy the sunset over the water. However, the past two times we have been sat in the bar area and had truly awful service. It was enough to ruin the entire meal for my family. While we did receive an apology that the bartender had been in a "bad mood since he arrived" and we were offered gift certificates (not taken), after 2 consecutive poor experiences we will not be returning. As well, we will have to find a new place to send our many houseguests. Vickery's is no longer an option for an enjoyable evening.

I do love Vickery's. From the 50's style ashtrays ceramically plastered to the foyer to the sidewalk with forks and knives and marbles in it... to the 50s style large lights to the EXCELLENT VIEW UNPARALLELED IN THE AREA... food is good too. ... but I like it because it feels special with its many decks and open to the outside bars (more than one outside bar area... three in fact... the third is by the creek). Cuban-inspired. menu... really hip, cool architecture... town implemented ordinance after Vickery's built: can't use that corregated metal sheeting, but I don't know why not, the place turned out so special... loved my shrimp n grits.. as good as it gets

Preface by saying that we are locals and have enjoyed the views and above average bar food many times. Tonite we were "greeted" at the door by a middle aged irish hostess who demanded that each member of our party be present before we be seated. Granted our party included a seven week old baby (easter baptism party), two six year olds, and four grandparents over 80 who happened to be taking their time making the trek from the inadequate parking area and up the wooden stairs. The hostess went on to inform me that her job was not to "sell to me" and that it was not her problem that i was unhappy because I was "not getting what I wanted". She stated that she would be fine with us "moving on to another establishment"- which we did. I pray that ownership steps up and corrects the issues with this once upon a time shem creek landmark. until that happens, I will be fine with a little less quality food but 180% friendly service at Red's . UNBELIEVABLY BAD TONITE AND COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, Get it together Vick!

I give this Vickerys' 5+++ stars for the view and 3 stars for the food... hence my 4 star rating. Shem Creek is a must see when you are visiting Charleston and the Vickery's deck is a nice place to see it. The food is hit or miss but usually hit.. It has an eclectic menu that most anyone will be able to find something they are in the mood for. I've heard their happy hour prices are phenomenal as well. The Shem Creek location hands down beats the downtown location....

great view, pretty good food, pretty good service. RB's across shem creek has the same view, same service, but better food. i like both places, but would go to RB's before the Vickery.

The setting is great being right on the creek. Food is pretty good but I haven't had anything that is worth writing home about. Pretty good beer list and you'll have a good time with your friends if you go. Probably a better place to grab a drink then get dinner.
